Well, I am continuing my way South down the Panamericana, Ruta 5. The highway is in a valley between the mighty Andes (to the East) and the smaller coastal range to the West. I am right in the heartland of the fine Chilean wine production. Although, there is a strong allure to take a few detours and to indulge is some wine tours, I have decided I might need these precious "extra days" in order to get through the harsh Southern Patagonia. In a nutshell, no getting drunk on equisite red Chilean wine .... (well, not just yet). Gotta stay sharp.
Tot time 4 hrs 47 min, ride time 4 hrs 2 min, 110 km, elev gain 253 m, elev loss 546 m. Had a nice tailwind to help the cause. Was an easy day.

Mining is a HUGE industry in Chile. Gotta be real careful when you see one of these coming at you. As a matter of fact, there was a convoy of 3 lead by a police car about an hour later. I yielded.

Wow stuff has really been happening to you since I last signed on. Not surprising. I also had technilogical difficulties as cousin Dean did. Changed providers and had to have them come back 2 more times. I was down for a bit.
What a great assortment of pictures you have posted for us, thanks. Perhps you could find a quant scene that had a roasted guinea pig, remember I mentioned it to you before you left (for people at work).
We are finally getting snow :) do you want me to sign you up for the Birkie or did you take care of that. You are so organized you probably did.
I went to ski in Vermilion both days this weekend, it was great. It is now the Beckie Scott Ski area, and there is a street named after her. Of course it is the street on the way to the Beckie Scott ski area. Walter was there today, he was telling me about Beckie in the sports hall of fame, he is so proud of his daughter.
Young Mark is now on his own.
