Hi Julie,
When I slept 5,600 m in the "high camp" I was only mildly uncomfortable. I think that the 3 days of hard riding at high altitude helped immensely.
Joy,
Yes, I was warm enough. I definitely used all of th "warm clothes" that I had. I did have to use additional clothes from the guide company ("Colibri"). I rented a heavy duty sleeping bag, and a thick gortex jacket, not to mention the standard climbing gear. Colibri is a type of hummingbird by the way.
Rags,
Yeah, enter me in the TR ... if and only if the payment isn´t due until the Spring. I don´t have a partner though. If payment is due before I get back forget it.
Jorge,
I have a contact in Santiago through a couple that I am good friends with (Yuri and Margarita). Their cousin lives in Santiago. She will receive the tarjeta de debito. She will be in the city for the next several weeks. Let´s stay in touch! Gracias de todas maneras.
I am embarking on a bike tour from La Paz, Bolivia to Tierra del Fuego. I should be on my bike by October 24th. I have three months to complete this journey. I am doing this trip solo ... unless of course I get any last minute (or last second) offers from friends and family who wish to accompany me. The following map shows the approximate route I will be taking. Along the way, I hope to have time to do a little bit of trekking and perhaps enjoy some fine Chilean wine.

Man, thats a heck of a rock in Arica. You can see why they fought for it. I'm surprised the Europeans didn't get into some kind of battle over a big rock like that. I'm half inclined to fly down there and fight for it myself. You can probably see well into the next barrio from the top of that rock. Wow.
Hi Darryl,
your pictures are really impressive!!! I can see you are having a great time there. Think of the poor of us working here in the cold north :) and keep enjoying your trip and letting us know about it.

Hi there Dario!
Good to hear that all is well and you are making fast progress. Cool pics and obviously you are enjoying the tour! Wanted you to know that Al got 5th final place in M1 in the Crocodile Trophy; he was 3rd in M1 category on one day and his best result was 2nd overall on Stage 5 - he was out front solo all day. How's the bike holding up? Things are OK here - still road riding as late as today in the howling Chinook. Best of luck, "talk" soon.
Yuri
Darryl,
Looks like trip is going well so far! I rode from Canmore to Banff along Rundle Riverside Sat. and Pen picked me up in Banff. Sunday it snowed a few " by time we left for CowTown so hopefully we are skiing next weekend. Great photos so far... take care and talk to you soon!
Hi Darryl,
I didn't realize that you brought your son along with you on your bike trip (nice picture of the two of you)
Good to hear that all is well with you! I like the pics it looks like you are having an enjoyable tour. Did any of the llama's spit at you?
It is pouring rain here today in Toronto and still around 11 C we have not had any snow yet and in fact my tomatoes are actually still in the ground. We have had some pretty unbelievable weather a couple of days last week were in the low 20's.
Take Care
Nola
It had been a long time since I last saw my long lost Bolivian son. It was a great bonding moment. By the way, llamas don´t spit .... much. We postponed the spitting match for the next meeting.
